TOO Tired to Blog????

What a day! Presentations ALL DAY, a bonfire at LaPush, AND a late showing of Twilight with some of the funniest Forks gals. It was a BLAST, but I am totally pooped out. I will try harder tomorrow to create a more detailed blog. For now, here are the Forks High School volleyball team sing their alma mater and fight song.

BTW - my Grizzlies volleyball team won today and we are playing in the championship game tomorrow. I do believe it is the shirt Chris made for me. Pics tomorrow!

WE ARE HERE!!

After sooooo many hours on the road and in the air, we are FINALLY here in Forks, WA. Too much of a story to tell at the time. Jet lag and anticipation for going to the reservation this morning is keeping me from explaining all. Later, baby!

Can you guess what I bought at the Forks Outfitters and ThriftWay grocery store? You guessed it! DIET DR. PEPPER. Yum . . . . I'll take a sip and continue my journey to La Push.

Flying soon!

The day (or night) is almost arriving, and I am trying hard not to be excited. For many of you who really know me, when I get too anxious about an event, I hurl. Yes, throw-up, barf, puke . . . you get the idea. Let’s hope I don’t forget my Dramamine. Better go put that in the bag now.

Traveling is no big deal. When you are flying so early in the morning, however, one thought crosses my mind – do I get up at 1:30 in the morning to drive all the way to Nashville OR do I get an inexpensive hotel room close to the airport the night before? Decisions, decisions.

My intentions are to begin blogging twice daily once I am Washington bound. There are enough layovers that I might make it three blogs on Wednesday. If you are reading my blogs, PLEASE make comments. Yes, I will have my cell so you can also see me txt messages. You know I will also answer any questions you have and promise to pick the nose of the first statue I see (inside joke for some of you, obviously). Remember Mexico? Let's hope I don't throw up on a totem pole. Would I get kicked off the reservation?

Thanks Alex for the painting pic!

6 More Days, but Who is Counting?

Dramamine, Excedrin for Migraine, Band-aids, and Multi vitamins. A list for a geriatric person? No, it’s my shopping list for today as I am beginning my packing for FORKS!! I will be out of town this weekend for another episode of “Flip this House.” Am I on HGTV? NO WAY! We are soooo much more boring. We have a house that belonged to Michael’s grandmother, and it is in desperate need of new floors, new paint, new cabinets, and finished electrical wiring. That’s were yours truly comes in. I am digressing . . .

Forks packing has become of a challenge. My suitcase’s weight will be an issue for all of my “resources” that I am bringing. Yes, I actually need to bring a 3” three-ringed notebook for one presentation. I will look like a total geek with my HUGE suitcase, computer bag, and carryon. I am trying relentlessly to see if my computer bag will fit in the carryon. Right now they both each weigh as much as a baby elephant, so I may need to rethink my traveling items. I did add Band-Aids to my list, right?
Thanks to H & C Meeks for a cool looking airbrushed portrait. There really are more Twilight Moms out there!

Jones Plays Volleyball?

There is only 8 more days before I head to Forks, and I am already feeling the pressure. Do I have the correct clothes purchased? Do I have the latest flight schedule? AM I PREPARED FOR THE THREE PRESENTATIONS?!? I know, I know. Typical drama queen stress, huh? Here is one more layer added to the stress . . . volleyball.

Now for some, volleyball means a fun sport that requires skill and the ability to keep your eye on the ball. For me, however, volleyball means a challenging sport that requires skill I am lacking and the ability NOT to fall and get hurt. Seriously!

Finding out that LAWebber will be going to Forks, we decided to see if they needed extra players for the Summer School volleyball tournament. WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!? Within 48 hours of our volunteer sign-up MMcCullough and HLandreth placed us both on teams. Let's hope I am not the grandmother for the Grizzlies team. Again . . . WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!? Let's pray I get home in one piece.

Coming Soon!

I have only a few more days before I head to Washington State . . . yahoo! My presentations are taking shape (still working on them), and I now have time to answer some of your questions:

  • YES, I have traveled by myself before. I am not scared of the miles traveled or the time spent away from my family. My husband will take care of my kiddos and I have a great friend who will take care of them during the day.
  • YES, I have traveled beyond the state of Kentucky. Before teaching at LO, I lived most of my life in Tennessee. Throughout college and high school days as a student, I experienced mission trips to other countries and saw most of the US. Unfortunately, I have not been to the northwest until now. That is why I sound a bit novice as to the packing.
  • NO, this symposium is not going to be only polyester wearing old teachers. Remember I AM GOING?!? Do you actually think that I would go to something that was less than fun? From the information given, there will be many high school students who will attend. Check out the program schedule on the SSIF site. It includes a prom and volleyball tournament. Does that sound like old fogey events?

You guys are a tough crowd, but I am thrilled that you have stuck with me and will keep in touch as I travel. You WILL, won’t you?!?

After MANY comments of my lapse in blog posts, I am happy to announce that I will now have new blogs every other day. Be sure to check back often.

I have also included some new poles. Tell me what you think!

Bluegrass People Are Coming!

It is has been a long time since I have left a post, and so many things have occurred. Standardized testing is taking place in Kentucky and all activities are put on hold. Now that we can see the end of school approaching, I can only see one thing - SUMMER SCHOOL IN FORKS is getting CLOSER! For children, Christmas and birthdays are celebrations that seem to take so long to arrive. For adults, however, we have grown up to not anticipate big events, right? Maybe I am just a big fan of the book. Maybe I am just looking forward to participating in one thing that is not related to motherly obligations. Maybe I am just a nut. Probably all three!
I have just learned that more Kentucky people will be making a pilgrimage to Forks, Washington at the same time as Summer School is taking place. More details will follow . . .
Thanks to JP for the wreath that has decorated my classroom door for the past few months. Although I cannot take it on my trip, a picture of your wreath will be used in my presentation. Thanks babe!
